For my Self Initiated Project I design a brief to include both designing graphics and branding.
My initial brief was:
For my self initiated project, I’ve decided to create a Fiction Company to create graphics for. I want to be able to design a coherent identity and brand, with research of the company to influence the designs I intend to create. I have written the following as a Corporate Profile background of the Company, to give me an area to study and research.
Corporate profile
We are a new startup Company that sells a clothing line for dancewear that focuses on ballet wear and footwear. This company requires an overall brand identity from company name to colour palette and style. We believe there should be a fair balance of male and female influence within the design, as ballet designs tend to be more biased towards the female persona. We want to reference classical ballet, incorporating a modern and fashionable/stylish up to date appearance that will appeal to 16 to 25 years olds. We want our line to be seen as a high-class/designer brand, well thought out graphics is being a crucial element. We believe our clothing should be beautifully designed and finished want the attention to detail to be mirrored within the retail appearance and experience.
Seeking inventive graphic designs for a fresh new energetic dance company to create a range of, labels including, Tags, and bespoke packaging design for leotards, satin ballet shoes that is inspired by the smooth weightless performance of ballet. To also create advertisements to market the clothing line to create an online presence, which will inspire purchases and possible the interior designs of the shop.
We will need to research ballet further, other dancewear companies and competitors to be fully informed and create a background of what graphic designs and advertisements have already been created. (Other competitors, Bloch, Repetto and Capezio Etc.) I will need to research agency and professionals within the field for inspiration as well as pervious design e.g. Branding, Graphics and Packaging to achieve a highly professional piece.
